  • Font or typeface styled text
  • Unique image that may include text

Who will I talk to about the design project?

Branding is a wholistic approach to marketing your business, it distinguishes your business from the competition. A logo forms part of this process and uniquely identifies your business in a snapshot.

How long will the total process take?

Generally, we will complete a project within a week upon commencement, however this depends on the scope of work required and the number of alterations that you make. Communication is a huge part of this process; we may require more time if you change the scope of the initial design (see our terms and conditions).

Why does it cost that?

Our work is bespoke, we take the time to research and compare your business in relation to your competitors. We consult with you to create a multifaceted design which is based on the parameters of the project.

What if I don’t like the design you provide?

This shouldn’t happen. Before any artwork is developed, we will discuss the creative direction you wish to take with the project and will develop a design brief for your approval in writing/email. Any artwork developed will follow this approved direction, reducing the risk of miscommunication. Typically, only minor revisions are required to a proposed concept (colour, type, images, etc.). Anything works beyond revisions that do not form part of the approved brief will incur additional charges, as outlined in our terms and conditions.

What if I change my mind after the project starts?

Should you choose to change the creative direction of your project after commencement, please notify us in writing. Our team will cease work and invoice for the work completed to that point. A new design brief will then be developed for your approval in writing/email. Once you have agreed to the brief, we will provide a new quote to include the additional scope of works required to complete your project. As above, anything beyond revisions requires additional charges, as outlined in our terms and conditions.

If I already have logo artwork, can you use it in the project I am engaging you for?

Yes, we can incorporate your current logo and create new branding elements that freshen and modernise your look. We do require artwork to set up to our specification. So before beginning the project please ensure you have the right specifications, just contact us for more details.

Can I download an image from the internet, and can you make that my logo?

We adhere to copyright laws in Australia and Internationally. You can supply images as “sketches, ideas, styles, feels and colour themes” but we will create something bespoke and original during the design process. We will not use unlicensed images which you do not own (see our terms and conditions).

Do I own the intellectual property rights?

As an industry standard practice, we license our (works originating from Media Operandi) artwork, images, video, and audio to you solely. We provide as part of our service the relevant file formats for your business to use (see our terms and conditions).

What file types do you provide on project completion?

Final design files are generally provided in the following formats: .pdf, .jpg and .png. Please contact us to discuss other options that you may require.

What are RAW and Native files?

These are the design files that a designer uses to create a project. They are the intellectual property of the designer. In some cases where your business has purchased these outright from another design firm, they can be supplied to us and used in the project. Think of them as the Architectural Plans for a building. Media Operandi however, does not supply native files as part of a design project, please see our terms and conditions for more details.

Do you do everything in-house?

In most cases yes, however over the past 25 years in the creative industry we have aligned ourselves with professional channel partners who are experts in their field. When we feel that the project needs a specific set of skills, we will outsource this locally. Anytime this occurs, we will notify you in advance. All print projects go to our preferred trade printer which enables us to pass the savings on to you directly. They are one of the largest professional trade printers in Australia and only deal with design agencies.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, our policy is 50% of the project total in advance and 50% upon completion of final proof/draft/Artwork 2. The deposit is non-refundable (after the first 48 hrs). Once the initial deposit is paid, your job is scheduled in. This ensures that your project remains a priority and provides peace of mind and security for both parties by adding accountability. After we receive the balance of payment, you will receive your final artwork files (see terms and conditions).

What if I need to cancel?

Please notify us in writing if you wish to cancel the project. Keep in mind that after first 48 hours the deposit is non-refundable, as it will help us cover the costs of work already done on your project.

How are quotes calculated?

We will do our best to quote you as accurately as possible based on the design brief. All quotes are calculated based on an hourly rate. If the scope of work changes throughout the project or the project takes longer estimated, we will let you know in advance to discuss the options. We will never go over budget before talking to you first.

Hourly rate or project rate?

For most projects we will supply a flat project rate as it is easier for our clients to allocate in their budget. We use hourly rates for revisions and extra amendments (Additional Fees) to design work, or when a client prefers an hourly rate to a flat rate.

Do you take cash and if so, do I get a discount?

No, we will send you an invoice via our payment portal to pay by credit card or direct deposit. Simply accept the order and pay online with your chosen method (see our terms and conditions). Please note that projects are not scheduled or started until a deposit payment has been received.

I am an Influencer; will you do the project Pro Bono?

Being an influencer is not a real job, trying to scam small businesses to help create your brand without paying is offensive. So, the answer is no. The only Bono we accept are the dulcet tones of the U2 front-man himself playing through our studio speakers while we create artwork projects for real businesses.
